Description

En Avril 2015, le New York Times Magazine contacte JR pour penser à un projet ensemble. JR s'intéressait à l'immigration et voulait continuer son travail commencé sur Ellis Island (UNFRAMED, Ellis Island; ELLIS, the movie).

Ils ont cherché ensemble des immigrants arrivés à New York depuis moins d'un an et sélectionné 15 personnes, venant de pays différents. JR les a photographiés marchant dans la ville, tous vivant dans l'ombre et apprenant l'anglais.

En quelques heures une nuit, JR et son équipe ont collé Elmar, 20 ans, venant d'Azerbaidjan, devant le Flatiron building. Un collage de 50 mètres de haut. Les gens ont marché sur lui toute la journée sans le remarquer.

Le 23 avril 2015, Elmar a fait la couverture du New York Times magazine - et tous ceux qui marchent sur lui sur la photo deviennent des ombres.
